Jayne McDonough

Recently appointed Director beginning in 2008 is Jayne McDonough. She has been a member of the Cape Shore Chorus since June of 2001 and was new to Barbershop style music at that time having had choral experience in Classical music.
Jayne has a Bachelors of Music Degree in Music Education from Westminster Choir College and teaches pre-school to sixth grade General Music at West Cape May Elementary School. She is also the organist and choir director for the Cold Spring Presbyterian Old Brick Church. While at Westminster Choir College she had the pleasure of singing in the Symphonic Choir performing with major symphony orchestras and directors including Leonard Bernstein, Robert Shaw, Seiji Ozawa, the Boston Symphony Orchestra, New York Philharmonic, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and many others. Her favorite choral experience was performing the operetta Casey at the Bat in Symphonic Hall at the Kennedy Center for the Arts in Washington, D.C. in 1976 with President and Mrs. Gerald Ford in attendance.
Jayne has been playing the organ since the age of six and played clarinet and bass clarinet in her junior and senior high school bands in Bethlehem, Pa. She was an organ major and voice minor in college.
Since becoming a member of Cape Shore Chorus in 2001, she has sung in three of the four sections. Starting as a baritone, with a short time as lead and finally settling in as a bass in the chorus. Jayne has been bass section leader, show co-chairperson and assistant director for the chorus. She received her Directors Certification from Sweet Adelines International in the spring of 2003.
Jayne lives in Wildwood Crest with her second loves in life after barbershop, three cocker spaniels, Sassy, Buttercup and Baylee.
